Unlocking the Power Of Language as a Tool

A captivating epi-centre of tongues, the Language lab will offer comprehensive assistance in learning 15 languages, including Sinhalese, Tamil, English, Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Dutch, and Portuguese. With highly skilled instructors and carefully curated curricula approved by educational authorities, students will have the opportunity to delve into these languages at introductory, intermediate, advanced, and crash course levels. 

Beyond becoming “Men of the World”, the students will also be able to use the languages of  Dutch, Portuguese, and French to explore Sri Lanka's colonial past through previously untapped original documents at the Sri Lanka National Archives Department, adding value to the motherland.

What is Centre of Excellence?

Going above and beyond conventional teaching methods to embrace activity-based learning, the Center of Excellence is a project that aims to redefine education in Sri Lanka. It is the first-ever STEAM Education center in the public sector, with a goal of empowering the children of today to create the world of tomorrow.

What is STEAM Education and why is it so important?

STEAM Education is a world recognized approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Is Centre of Excellence for Ananda College students only?

The short answer is no. We are working with the Ministry of Education to develop a transferable framework for other schools to adapt and implement. Ananda College will be the first school to initiate this pilot project.
